Block Heads 2 - Block 5

It's a Happy July 4th from the Block Heads!  Because it's a holiday here, we'd like to make an Impact!

There it is - Impact!  It's the name of the block from Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique.

The block shown above was made by Moda Michelle using Collection for a Cause Preservation by Howard Marcus.  I think her finished quilt is going to be a Reproduction-stunner.

To see Vanessa's version of Impact and get the block instructions - Lella Boutique Blog ~ Block 5 - Impact Instructions.

Impact is a big block - 24" x 24" finished size.  What?  We said there were at least three sizes - 6", 12" and 18".  There might be an 18" block.  Or not.  But there are at least three sizes of blocks.  So far.  <insert smiling face emoji here>

You know what's coming, right?

I might have changed my block up just a bit.

I really do wish it were otherwise but plain 8" squares are just not "me".  So... mo' pieces, mo' fabrics, mo' better.  My objective with this block was to keep it light, hence all the light star-centers.  I might go back and switch out the centers... and as I look at the picture, I'm getting an idea on what I would change.  I'll let you know what happens.

The fabrics are from a variety of collections - Jen Kingwell's Beach Road and Looking Forward / Zen Chic's Hey Dot, Fragile and More Paper / Urban Chiks' Urban Cottage / Sweetwater's Feed Company and Volume II and BasicGrey's Meraki.  And the perfectly wonderful bee print on Cream - that's from Vanessa's upcoming Garden Variety collection.
