INGREDIENTS

From Snow (9900 11), cut:
{A} (1) 3½” x 9½” rectangle
{B} (3) 2½” x 5½” rectangles
{C} (1) 2½” x 7½” rectangle
{D} (6) 2½” squares
{H} (2) 1½” squares
{I} (2) 1” squares
{J} (1) 5½” x 9½” rectangle
{K} (1) 2½” x 3½” rectangle

From Scarlet (9900 47), cut:
{B} (2) 2½” x 5½” rectangles
{C} (4) 2½” x 7½” rectangle
{D} (8) 2½” squares
{E} (4) 1” x 6½” strips
{F} (2) 3½” squares, cut twice on the diagonal

From White (9900 98), cut:
{D} (2) 2½” squares
{F } (4) 3½” squares, cut twice on the diagonal

From Betty’s Pink (9900 88), cut:
{F} (2) 3½” squares, cut twice on the diagonal

From Peacock (9900 216), cut:
{G} (8) 1½” x 3½” rectangles

From Ruby Ice (9900 169), cut:
{G} (6) 1½” x 3½” rectangles

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: MAKE OHIO STAR

Using the pink, white, and red triangles cut from the 3½” squares, make 8 QSTs. Trim each QST to measure 2½” square.
Join QSTs with 4 red 2½” squares, and 1 white 2½” squares to make 2 Ohio star blocks. Each Ohio star should measure 6½” square.

 

Step 2: MAKE ECT UNITS

Use 2 background 2½” squares to make easy corner triangles (ECTs) at the top of each of (2) 2½” x 7½” rectangle.

Using 1 red 2 1/2” x 5 1/2” piece, 1 white 1” square, 1 white 1 1/2” square, and 1 white 2 1/2” square, use the easy corner triangle method to make a thumb unit. The placement is shown.

Repeat to make 2 mirror image thumb units.

Step 3: MAKE THE CUFF

Using 4 aqua 1 1/2” x 3 1/2” pieces and 3 light aqua 1 1/2” x 3 1/2” pieces, sew a mitten cuff. Repeat once more to make a total of 2 mitten cuffs.

Step 3: MAKE THE MITTEN

Join mitten pieces with background and mitten pieces as shown to create the left and right mittens.

Step 4: ASSEMBLE THE BLOCK

Assemble the block as shown. Measures 18½” square unfinished,
