INGREDIENTS

From Geranium, (9900 258), cut:
{A} (8) 1” squares
{B} (4) 1½” squares, cut once on the diagonal
{C} (4) 1½” x 2” rectangles
{D} (2) 4” x 1½” rectangles
{E} (2) 4” x 2¼” rectangles

From Snow (9900 11), cut:
{A} (2) 1” squares
{B} (4) 1½” squares, cut once on the diagonal*

From Gray, cut:
{F} (2) 1” x 2” rectangles

From Dill (9900 77), cut:
{G} (2) 5” x 2” rectangles
{H} (2) 2½” x 3” rectangles
{I} (2) 5” squares

From Betty’s Green (9900 121), cut:
{F} (2) 1” x 2” rectangles
{C} (4) 1½” x 2” rectangles
{B} (4) 1½” squares
{M} (4) 2¼” squares
{N} (4) 1” x 5” rectangles
{O} (2) 1¼” x 5” rectangles
{P} (2) 2½” x 2” rectangles
{Q} (2) 6½” x 7” rectangles

From Ruby Ice (9900 169), cut:
{R} (2) 2½” x 18½”
{S} (1) 1” x 14½”
{T} (2) 1¼” x 14½”
{U} (2) 4” x 8”
{B} (2) 1½” squares
{H} (2) 2½ x 3”
{X} (2) 3” squares
{Y} (2) 2½” squares
{Z} (2) 4” squares

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1. MAKE TOP OF SOCK

Sew the white B triangles to the red B triangles to make 8 half square triangles. Press them open and trim to a 1” square. Sew the HSTs together with the red 1” squares and 1” snow square to create Friendship Star. Press.

Use the ECT method to add M squares to E rectangles. Repeat with D rectangles and B squares.

Join together G, F, C pieces to make the completed ornament unit.

Add O strip and top cuff of the sock. Sew to U background rectangle. Press. Make 2.

STEP 2. MAKE TOE & HEEL

Heel: Sew square B diagonally from corner to corner to corner of piece H. Trim and press. Sew P to the top and H background to the bottom and press well.

Toe: Sew I diagonally from corner to corner to piece Q, trim and press. Sew Z diagonally from corner to corner; trim and press. Sew X diagonally from corner to corner; trim and press. Sew Y to corner; trim and press.

Sew the heel and the toe pieces together.

STEP 3. ASSEMBLE SOCK

Join sock top and bottom.

STEP 4. ASSEMBLE BLOCK

Sew socks together with S strip in between.

Add side strips and top and bottom. Press well. Block is 18½” square unfinished.
