One thing that quilters have in common is their love of fabric and food. It seems like an obvious move when it cam to name one of Moda's first precuts to take this into consideration. Looking at a roll of 2 1/2" strips of fabric all nicely cut and wrapped together and the obvious name JellyRoll was created. As with anythng new, we were asked what do I do with this? And while the answer seemed obvious to us, we started an online comminuty of makers sharing projects using any of Moda's precuts and the Moda Bake Shop was born.

Since then many tools and projects have been designed featuring moda's JellyRolls. Today's Friday Book Club review is Rolling Along, Quick and Easy Quilts using 2 1/2" strips. In stores now!

Some of the Chefs from the Moda Bake Shop have been in the "kitchen" - "cooking" up some new "recipes." That is all code word for sewing, quilting and patterns, so enjoy the following quilts from some of our talented Chefs featuring JellyRolls.

 Rose Compass by Melissa Corry

Melissa's quilt is a big one, measuring 90 x 90, perfect to actually use on a bed. She used 2 JellyRolls and background fabric. It is amazing how far a JellyRoll can go by adding background as you will see in this book and the range of sizes of projects.

Garden Lattice by Susan Vaughn

As quilters we look for inspiration everywhere. Susan's quilt was inspired by a recent trip to a botanical garden.

How super cool is this quilt? The quilting compliemtns the graphic movement throughout. The style can be classic or contemporary depenind gon fabric used? Just imagine it in black and white!

Crossroads by Lisa Jo Girodat

Lisa's quilt is inspired by her own crossroads in life, some planned, some random yet she choose to find positivity in everything she touches. This quilt is a fun representation of her journey.

Hummingbirds by Nicola Dodd

Nicola is one of our Chefs from Australia and I love her take on a traditional pattern and adding a bit of whimsy. Nicola was inspired by the dresden plates shapes and created brillaint hummingbird wings.

Storm Warning by Anne Weins 

Anne strip pieced sections of her JellyRoll to create these squares with no waste and an interesting result on the striped fabrics.

Family Picnic by Corinne Sovey

Corinne was one of our early chefs and has rejoined us sharing Family Picnic. Corinne also shares tips on sewing the JellyRolls together for accuracy and best results.
