Hello again everyone! I'm super excited to share this quilt with you today. I love solids and use them frequently in my quilts. I am pleased to be a part of the Summer of Solids tutorials. Today's quilt is a super fast quilt made using three different strip sets. The thing I like best about this quilt is that you can make it with any colors as long as you have a light, medium and dark.

You need a light, medium and a dark.

I used Feather (127), Steel (184) and Charcoal (284)

3 1/2 yards backing of your choice.

Start by opening your jelly rolls.

For this project you will need: 14 white strips, 16 black strips and 18 grey strips.

Press well using starch or your favorite starch alternative.

Now its time to assemble some strip sets:

Set A, you need 17 blocks:   You will need 4 sets of strips in  white, grey, black, grey and white. This makes 16 blocks.

For the last block use 12 inch pieces to make 1 more block.

Some people like to press after adding each strip and some people like to press them after all the strips are sewn together. Just be sure to press all the seams in the same direction.

Set B, you need 14 blocks:   You will need 3 sets of strip sets of black, grey, white, grey and black. This makes 12 blocks.

For the last two blocks use half strips to make two more blocks.

After your A & B strips are completed, measure the finished width of your strips in several different places to get an accurate measurement for cutting your blocks.  If your seams are a perfect 1/4 inch they should measure 10 1/2 inches. If your strips measure 10 1/4 inches cut them at that measurement, etc.  By double checking the width of your strips you can make sure you cut your blocks square.

Cut each of your A & B sets into 4 square blocks.

Set C:   For the diagonal blocks you will need 1 set of strips in  black, grey, black, white, black, grey and black.

For the diagonal "C" strip blocks use one of your "A" or "B" blocks as a template and cut 3 from the strip.

For the fourth block take two of the scrap pieces that were left over from your C strip and half of a white strip and sew together to make the last block. Make sure you leave enough white  sticking out each end to make the point of the block. Trim down to match the size of the other blocks.

Lay out your blocks according to the picture above.  Sew the blocks together in rows. Sew the rows together to finish the quilt top.  Quilt as desired and bind using leftover strips or any fabric of your choice.

Here are a few other examples of the same quilt made with different colors. By just changing one or two of the colors of the strips you can come up with so many different designs or make it to fit anyone's style.  This would be a perfect pattern for your son or husband or any special man in your life!
